What is Letterbox Chocolate?
We’re a UK craft chocolate subscription service curating the world’s best bean-to-bar makers.
Do you only stock bean-to-bar chocolate?
Most of the chocolate we curate is bean to bar, but we also include exceptional small-batch chocolate that meets the same ethical and quality standards. These may be single origin or blended bars but it’s important for us that we know the provenance and origin of the chocolate.
Where do you source your chocolate from?
We buy directly from makers, ensuring transparency and fair pay for producers.
Do you run a chocolate shop?
No. We’re not a shop. We curate, box, and deliver hand-picked bars from the best makers to your door.
Subscription FAQs
What subscription options do you offer?
We offer rolling monthly and bimonthly subscriptions, plus prepaid 3-, 6-, and 12-month plans. Gift cards are also available for prepaid subscriptions.
Do prepaid subscriptions auto-renew?
No. Prepaid subscriptions end automatically unless you choose to renew them.
Can I pause or skip a month?
Yes! You can pause your subscription or skip a month anytime.
When will I be charged?
You’ll be charged when you sign up, and then on the 1st of each month for rolling subscriptions.
How many bars come in each box?
Each subscription box contains 3 carefully selected bars.
Product FAQs
Are your boxes vegan or gluten-free?
Our bars are made by independent makers, and most carry a “may contain” warning due to shared equipment. Some bars are vegan or gluten-free, but we can’t guarantee every box is.
Do you include milk chocolate or just dark?
Both! Each box has a mixture of dark and milk unless stated otherwise.
Do you include flavoured bars?
Yes. You’ll find a mix of plain single-origin bars and inclusion bars (like sea salt, coffee, or fruit).
Are the bars Fairtrade, Direct Trade, or Organic?
Not every bar carries certification—but every bar is ethically sourced. We work with makers who pay above-market prices and prioritise sustainable farming.
Shipping & Delivery FAQs
Where do you deliver?
We ship UK-wide only.
When will my box arrive?
All subscriptions are shipped at the beginning of each month.
Is shipping included in the price?
No, we add a shipping cost at the checkout.
How are the bars packaged?
We use letterbox-friendly boxes. In periods of extreme heat, we may delay shipping slightly to protect the chocolate, and recommend chilling your bars briefly if they arrive warm. We’re working on solutions to keep the bars cool during shipping.
Gifting FAQs
Can I buy a gift subscription?
Yes! You can buy a recurring subscription or have a pre-paid 3, 6 or 12 month subscription that you can get sent directly to the recipient. We're working on a gift code system and will release it when its ready.
Can I add a gift note?
Yes. We handwrite every gift note for a personal touch.
Do you offer one-off gift boxes?
Yes. We can send a single gift box if you prefer.
Other FAQs
Can I return chocolate or get a refund if I don’t like a bar?
We don’t accept returns—this is standard in the chocolate industry—but if there’s a fault or issue, get in touch and we’ll do our best to resolve it. You can cancel your subscription anytime after your first delivery.
Do you sell specific bars individually?
No. We’re a curated subscription service, not a retail shop. We deliver the best combinations rather than stocking a shopfront.
Are you VAT registered?
Currently no, but we will be—this FAQ will be updated when that changes and the prices won’t change.
